2009 Laredo Air Force Base Reunion in Colorado Springs

Final arrangements have been completed and Colorado Springs awaits your presence at the Laredo AFB Reunion from September 23 through September 26, 2009. The Best Western Academy Hotel, 8110 N Academy Boulevard will be our headquarters. Make your reservations directly to the hotel at 1-800-766-8524 to receive the Laredo AFB Reunion rate of $89.00/night double occupancy. You can view the hotel's site here, http://www.theacademyhotel.com, but you cannot receive the discount if you book on the site. A shuttle bus is free to and from the hotel from the Colorado Springs airport. Be sure to mention “Laredo AFB Reunion” when you make contact. The schedule of daily activities includes more specific information.
WEDNESDAY 23 SEPTEMBER. Registrations will begin at 0900. The Hospitality Suite will be open at 1000. There are no activities planned for Wednesday so this will be a good time to get acquainted with old and new attendees.
THURSDAY 24 SEPTEMBER. Hospitality room opens at 0900 (Registrations continue). We will have an Italian buffet dinner at the hotel beginning at 1900. A no host bar begins at 1800.
FRIDAY 25 SEPTEMBER. Our golf tournament will begin at 1000 hours at the AFA Eisenhower Golf Course. The tournament will be an “extra charge” as in the past. Please let us know as soon as possible if you want to play in the tournament and how many.
SATURDAY 26 SEPTEMBER. FOOTBALL!! At 1200 the Air Force Academy will play San Diego State University. See enclosed sheet for information on the game and how to purchase tickets.
Saturday evening will be our dinner dance at the Academy Officer’s Club. A no host bar begins at 1800 and dinner at 1900. The 1800 start time will provide adequate time to attend the football game.
SUNDAY 27 SEPTEMBER: There are no formal activities scheduled on Sunday. We hope to see everyone at the morning breakfast at the hotel. Hospitality suite will be open from 0900 to 1200.
NOTE: We are still in the process of scheduling a tour of the Cheyenne Mountain Facility and the Air Force Academy. Most likely these tours will be scheduled on Wednesday afternoon, Thursday or Friday. The scenery will be unbelievable at this time of year. We recommend a drive to Cripple Creek which is approximately 50 miles from the hotel. And of course there is plenty of shopping in Colorado Springs, Manitou Springs, Castle Rock and Denver.
The weather will be cool in the evening. Don’t forget to bring a light sweater or jacket.
